Many of you know Michelle, and the reasons why I am starting this fundraiser for Michelle and her family. Michelle has a partner and two children aged 12 and 8. Michelle is an amazing and doting mother to her two children, loving partner to Luke and much loved Sister, Aunty, Daughter and friend to so many. Michelle will do anything for anyone, and is the first to offer support to those close to her, and is there in times of need.
For those of you whom do not know Michelle and her family, here is her story, and the reasoning behind this.
Michelle had been feeling quite unwell leading up to Christmas, and had visited the doctors, where testing began to determine the source of this. On Boxing Day, Michelle received some test results that stated they had found a mass on her liver, which resembled the size of a peach. Over the next few days Michelle noticed her eyes and skin turning yellow. On Monday 29/12 Michelle received a call from the local doctors, who told her to get to a hospital straight away, as her liver function was not good at all.
Michelle was admitted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she underwent further testing, had surgery to put stents in her liver, and drains for a few days. During this procedure Michelle developed Pancreatitis, and was in excruciating pain for the coming days.
Michelle then received the news no one ever wants to hear. Michelle has stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma, which has also moved to her spine. This is an inoperable and incurable cancer.
Within 7 days, their world has been turned upside down. Michelle and her family have the fight of their lives on their hands.
Michelle and her partner have both recently started new jobs, so they do not have any annual leave, or sick pay to help with their finances. Michelle is going to need her family by her side, every step of the way while they fight this unforgiving disease.
As the treatments commence for Michelle, funds will be needed for medical expenses and treatments which are out of their reach financially. They will also be used so that while Michelle is battling this disease, her partner can be by her side, and not have the added worry of working to bring in money to support the family.
We, together, can help this family create beautiful memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
Please join us in helping Michelle and her family in their time of need.
