Emma's Top Surgery Fundraiser

Hi everyone!

My name is Emma, I’m a working class writer and naturalist, and I’m trying to raise funds for gender affirming top surgery. I have done my research and been in conversation with a surgeon for months, and they just had an earlier than expected date open up for late March. Between my excitement for the joy and euphoria that gender affirming surgery brings, and the increasingly hostile state of trans rights across legislative borders, I’ve decided now is the time for me to move forward with this surgery, so I said yes to one month from now! But I need your help.

I am currently doing gig work, and with an insurance situation that does not cover any trans related care. This means I’m already paying out of pocket for HRT and other gender related care, so I have nothing left for surgeries. The breakdown of the care that I’m receiving is below. I am not revealing the specifics of this surgery beyond what you see below for my own privacy, however, if you are trans and curious for your own transition care needs, I am happy to answer personal messages.

Top surgery: $7,352

Anticipated lost income during out-of-work recovery time: $2,500

Travel/lodging (3 trips required 4 hours away, 2 overnights for surgery): $500

Recovery care/follow-up costs (medications and supportive garments): $350

Total trans care costs: $10,702

There are infinite ways for transition to look, and this is the particular care I need to feel home in my body, and I earnestly appreciate any help I can get.
