John's Celebration of Life

Donation protected
John was a vibrant soul, had such a beautiful heart and always stood up for what he believed in and he was hilarious beyond belief. He was taken from us way too soon.  Unfortunately my Mom lost one of her babies... Lucy, Chris and I lost our brother. It feels like the worst nightmare possible. We are taking it minute by minute. Essentially John was on bedrest for months since the end of 2020 for complications with his spine. On June 3rd he was called by a spinal doctor and they said it was extremely dangerous and finally took it seriously so they were sending an ambulance to come pick him up until his surgery date on the 8th. By the next night his heart had stopped and they were able to bring him back but within an induced coma. Over the weekend he was doing well and progressing with breathing although in certain positions he still needed a ventilator so they kept him on it. Then all of a sudden there was a plethora of health issues: a really bad pneumonia, the ventilator was keeping him afloat, he went into cardiac arrest a couple times, the nurses assume that a blood clot got to his heart. We have ordered an autopsy so we will keep everyone updated on that.  My mother has been here in Vancouver the past two months helping John. She has being advocating in every possible way because he literally couldn't leave his bed.  We are super grateful for the one on one  health ICU nurses that were extremely selfless and so wonderful to us. The doctors and nurses want to state it a societal issue due to the lack of help from the health care system for the past 8 months. Anything helps. As long as my Mother can get the financial support towards his celebration of life perhaps cremation and or/funeral memorial costs. John survived living in the city by minding the nature of his own business and accepting people for who they are. He was a member of the LGBTQ community and taught us to always love ourselves for who we were.  He always treated others how they wanted to be treated. When I held his hand for the last time yesterday I told him he will be safe and we will all be okay. Please send your prayers and love so he will feel comfort.
