Mattie Rasnake's Medical Expenses

Mattie is a 5 year old girl who was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis at 2 months of age.  Over the past 4 years, Mattie has visited Cincinnati Childrens Hospital every 3 months to have anesthesia, MRI’s, and numerous appointments, exams, and blood tests with some of our nation’s top doctors for children.  

Just weeks ago, her MRI showed that her right internal carotid artery had closed itself without any warning, and it happened in just under 3 months. This should have been fatal, as the carotid artery supplies blood to the entire right side of the brain. Instead, Mattie’s body corrected the problem by sending her blood in a different direction, and creating a vessel that could carry the blood to the right side of her brain. What a miracle.

This morning Mattie was admitted to the hospital, not just for her routine visit. Mattie is experiencing severe abdominal pain along with many other symptoms. Mattie's expected stay in the hospital is unknown at this time but could last for weeks until the doctors find answers.  While Mattie has insurance to help pay for her numerous stays in the hospital it unfortunately doesn't cover everything, including her families expenses for travel and time they have to take away from work.
