Bring Michelle Home ❤️

Our mother Michelle Heller went on vacation with a group of friends in hopes to relax and recover in Costa Rica. Sadly, while she was floating on a noodle in the ocean, she reported that she was not feeling well. She made her way back to shore and required significant assistance from her group to make it to the car in hopes to get her immediate medical attention. The decision was made to go to urgent care, who, after running a few tests, sent her to the closest hospital located in Nicoya. Due to the severity of her medical condition.

While admitted she was stabilized after 5 hours of continuous work and sent via ambulance to the cath lab in San Jose 3 hours south of her current location. After the test were ran the doctors learned she did not have a heart attack which we were relieved to find out but her heart function was significantly impaired due to cardiomyopathy.

After 24 hours she was sent back to the hospital in Nicoya via ambulance where she has been receiving medical care for 3 weeks. As with medical journeys, it has been a few steps forward, with multiple steps backward. We have been very grateful for the care she has received and the detailed reports the doctors have been providing as well as the endless help from friends and family for the translation.

Unfortunately, mom is still after 3 weeks too unstable to travel on a commercial flight to receive additional care. As we hope to get mom our plan is to hire a private medical flight with medical staff aboard to safely transport her from Costa Rica back Georgia which is not supported by insurance to receive the necessary care and be surrounded by her friends and family in this extremely tough time. We do not expect nor will we be disappointed with any amount we receive and will be truly grateful for what is provided for us along this journey!
