Hi, this is Jenny and Maisey's joint fundraising page to support the ongoing sporting educational projects that take place in hub sites across Zambia. We will be volunteering for 8 weeks over June and July 2025 with the role of Women Netball Development Officer in their capital city of Lusaka.
We will be representing Stirling University and working in collaboration with the Wallace Group and Sport in Action. We are travelling with students from 8 other UK Universities who will also have the same goal as me to provide support, aid, and expertise to the areas prioritised by SIA. Our focus on site will be to collaborate with the local community support hubs and to encourage sport development.
Currently, 1.2 million orphans and vulnerable children and living in Zambia and do not have the family support or educational structure they need to thrive. 70% of Zambian schoolchildren don't get the chance to complete school.
With the support and power of sport and education, SIA aims to improve the quality of Zambian children's lives. They also aim to increase female participation in sport.
We are raising funds to support a truly impactful project, and your generosity will go a long way in making a difference. The money raised will help cover the following expenses: Sport equipment in Zambia, Fountain of Hope and food programme costs, first aid training, safeguarding courses, and disclosure fees. Return flights to Zambia, accommodation for 8 weeks, and University of Stirling sports kit.
Over the next three months, we will be hosting a variety of fundraising events, including netball fundraisers in at the university. Maisey is running 100k in February and Jenny is running the Half marathon in May. We will also be hosting a fast fives tournament in March for all University of Stirling students.
During our time in Zambia, we will focus on increasing sports participation in local communities and providing leadership opportunities for young people at our hub sites. Our programme aims to deliver educational and competition-based sessions while ensuring each hub site is well-managed and effective for everyone involved.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, is deeply appreciated and will help us provide valuable sporting opportunities to young people in Lusaka. The funds will be directed towards supporting the SIA and Volunteer Zambia projects, helping maintain the hub sites and bringing in a new group of student volunteers, including ourselves.
