Help SPARKY 384

The John Randolph Tucker High School FIRST Robotics Team, Sparky 384, needs your

immediate help! We just recently competed in the District Championship in Fairfax, VA where we ended up as the 7th seeded alliance captain. With that we earned enough district points to qualify for the FIRST World Championship in Houston, TX! This tournament will host the best teams fromaround the world and we will need your help to get there! This tournament has a registration fee of $5000. In addition, we need to get all our team members there, and the estimated cost to get our team there is about $10,000, which has the potential to put a financial burden on our team members' families.

 

John Randolph Tucker High School is a diverse school made up of 26 different languages and dialects, the robotics team is made up of 15 different languages to name a few: Hungarian, Telugu, Spanish and Arabic. The school/team is made up of 50% free and reduced lunch. Each tournament we advance to has a new set of challenges, both robot-wise and financially!

 

FIRST robotics has been a part of shaping many students' lives over the years. The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, inspiring innovation, and fostering well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. We have gotten the pleasure of working with industry-leading companies over the years such as Flexicell, a Pearson Packaging Systems Company, and GE, as well as various other engineers from local automation companies.

 

Team 384's 24th year underway, we have designed and constructed a fully functioning robot to compete in two district events, a district championship, and, hopefully, a world championship. Using a combination of CAD, manual and automated machine tools, and custom electronics and software systems, our team built an effective and robust machine.

 

All donations will go toward registration, travel costs, and robot and equipment shipping costs. We need the money urgently, as registration is due soon. We want as many members as possible to engage in this memorable experience!
