My family is in need of help

Hello,

I have only opened up to a select few about what has recently happened to myself and my family. However, due to the recent circumstances I am reaching out and asking for help for my mom.

Both my mom and I have been in an ongoing rut since June of this year. It all started with my mom and I both having to get surgery this summer. My mom had to get two surgeries to relieve her of an unbearable pain in her side. Unfortunately, my moms second surgery of the summer did not go as planned. As the doctors were opening her up they discovered that her diagnosis was wrong. They then realized that her diagnosis required a specialized doctor who would have to perform the surgery at a later date. My mom was cut open, had absolutely nothing done to her, and then sewn up. As you can imagine, my family was very frustrated. My mom was in severe pain for weeks and had to heal a wound that was unnecessary.

Next was my surgery. I got my ACL completely replaced with part of my quad muscle. I was out of work for 5 weeks unpaid. My mom was also out of work for 2-3 weeks helping me recover since I was on crutches and in a great deal of pain. We were beginning to feel the weight of the hospital bills stacking up. The bills are still currently coming in. As many know, ACL replacement surgery has a very long recovery time. I am not even half way through my 10 month recovery and have two hours of physical therapy a day. It was and has been surely a struggle but, the real problems didn’t kick in until September.

I was the victim of a hit and run car accident a month ago. The man merged into my car and drove away. My boyfriend, Ryan, sprinted after him in hopes of getting him to pull over but, he had no luck. Meanwhile I was completely trapped in my car. This man had bent my door frame and my door hinges. He hit me exactly where my recovering knee was. If he would’ve hit me harder I would’ve had major damage done to my recovering ACL. At the time, I was still in my full leg brace so I couldn’t crawl over the seat to get out of the car. I was completely trapped... Thankfully, a tow truck driver pulled over and was able to pry the door open at least half way for me so I could get out. We sat in the middle of an intersection, in the dark for an hour waiting for the Philadelphia police to arrive. We had gotten this man’s license plate number and a description of his face. However, this man refused to contact the police back and had lied to his lawyer about doing so. I waited almost a month for him to give the police his insurance information. To make matters worse, I was then told that this man totaled my car.....

I have been waiting for two weeks now for him to respond to his citations and make his plea. My mom and I have been paying out of pocket for all of these expenses not covered by insurance. It’s been a huge emotional and financial burden on both of us. I’m also going to have to face this man in court for everything he has put me through.

Ending it with an unfortunate bang...

Shortly after my accident, something else happened to us. Several problems arose within my moms house. Our addition ceiling started leaking, our guest room ceiling had completely collapsed, and she found mold in our basement... The mold is now spreading up to our first floor and is continuing to cover our belongings and ruin our things. We now have to gut our entire basement, seal it off, and kill the mold. My mom has to rent out a dumpster and a storage unit. She also has to have the mold tested by a specialist as well as buy a bunch of supplies to get the job done. Our insurance is not covering any of this damage. A lot of our most prized possessions have to be thrown away... it is truly horrible.

With all this said, I’m reaching out for my mom. She’s the strongest woman I know and it kills me to see this happen to her. Neither of us asked for these things to happen nor did we deserve for them to happen. Many of you know my mom. You all have seen how kind and big hearted she is. It’s heart wrenching seeing her go through this.

It would mean so much to me and to her to have a friendly helping hand.
Any contribution will help and is greatly appreciated.
