The UConn Ski Team needs your help!
The UConn Ski team has once again had a fantastic season of racing in the highly competitive MacConnell Division. Our 2020 season results landed both teams in 4th overall advancing both the men and women to first-round postseason Regional Championships. Our regular season is made up of 10 races all over the Northeast, from Lake Placid to Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire. Individually, we had 4 athletes earn the all MacConnell Division Team distinction. These four athletes were also invited to race at EISA Regionals at Middlebury College 2/28-2/29 to compete against some of the best Division I skiers in the East! Congratulations to Alex Marshall, Lydia Kelleher, Vlad Ilies, and Matt Chambers for achieving this honor.
This past weekend in Sugarloaf, Maine we had more outstanding results with our ladies team placing 3rd in both gs and slalom events earning them 3rd place overall at regionals. Our men's team finished the GS event with a 6th place finish and slalom 5th, giving them the overall 5th place regional title. Individually, Vlad Illies and Alex Marshall were able to land spots in the top ten overall! As a result of our Regionals performance, we are excited to announce we have qualified to compete at USCSA Nationals at Lake Placid NY for a week-long event this March!
To compete at Nationals each athlete is required to pay $540 individually on top of the expenses of food, lodging, and travel. UConn has provided some support to us but it will not cover the costs of our week-long event. Our friends, family, and alumni have been very generous to us and we are so grateful for your past support; we are hoping that you will once again consider donating to our GoFundMe to help offset our out of pocket expenses needed to compete in Lake Placid. As always, we appreciate any size donation, we look forward to racing with heart, determination, and Husky pride!
