Jesus "Chino" Zapien-Chemo treatment

Hello Friends, as you may know, El Chino is out with health issues again but this time the situation is a little bit more difficult. Last time he was out with a tumor in his kidney and a procedure was done to remove one of his kidneys and get him well. This time the problem is back and unfortunately is in his brain. I spoke to him last week and he told me that he has 3 areas where the tumors are located and they are not operable. He requires chemotherapy treatment for about 2 months for now.

In Mexico, the health services is a public health system (called IMSS) and they haven’t been able to provide Chino with this treatment, they won’t say when and rumors say the institute doesn’t have the medicines available national wide. Unfortunately his situation turned to the worse last Wednesday and he ended up in the emergency room and what they told him was that he needed to start treatment right away because the tumors are aggressive and the problem was that they don’t have the treatment he needs. As you know, the chemo treatment is very expensive and for him it means $1200 dollars a week approximately for 2 months!

He and his family were able to gather enough for him to get his first box and he fortunately has started his treatment. His hope is that he will have to buy 2 or 3 weeks’ worth of this treatment and the institute will be able to start providing what he needs but there is no assurance of this at this point.

I’m reaching out to you because we want to make a fund raising for him, knowing that anything helps and I hope you are able to donate anything you can!

My goal is to mobilize quickly and be able to help him with the next cycle he needs this Thursday.
