Hurricane Melissa has left a trail of destruction across the western parts of Jamaica. Homes have been damaged, families displaced, and entire communities left struggling to rebuild. Many are without access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and shelter.

In response to this tragedy, we — The Sharpe / Dennis & Brackenridge Foundation, have come together to take immediate action.

My name is Jodi-Ann Dennis, and I’m from Portmore, St. Catherine, Jamaica. Having experienced difficult times myself in the past, I’ve made it my mission to help others however I can. Over the years, I’ve gathered donations for people in need and for children’s homes during Christmas.

This tragedy has also impacted me personally — my uncle lost his roof and was injured during this horrendous event. Seeing what my own family and so many others are going through has made me even more determined to help in any way possible.

I knew I couldn’t sit back — and thankfully, my friends Sharpe and Brackenridge, who share the same passion for giving back, joined me to make a greater impact.

While we are still in the process of officially registering our foundation, we decided to act immediately because help is needed now, not later.

How the Funds Will Be Spent

Every dollar raised will go directly toward purchasing and distributing essential supplies to affected communities in Westmoreland and St. Elizabeth.

Funds will be used to provide:

Non-perishable food items (rice, canned goods, flour, oil, etc.)

Clean drinking water

Toiletries and hygiene products

Clothing for babies, children, and adults

Blankets and inflatable beds

Rebuilding materials (tarpaulins, zinc sheets, plywood, nails, etc.)

Batteries and flashlights

We will also pack and ship barrels of these supplies directly to Jamaica, ensuring they reach the communities most in need.

Our Commitment

We are personally working within the affected areas, overseeing the distribution of all donated items to make sure your contributions go exactly where they’re needed. Our goal is not just to provide short-term relief but to help families begin the process of rebuilding and restoring stability after this traumatic event.
