Hi, if you are here and taking the time to read our Dad's story - thank you. Our names are Juliana and Cassandra, and we are fundraising money for our Dad's stage 4 Glioblastoma cancer battle.
If you ever met our dad, you'll know that he is kind, passionate, incredibly hard working, but also a proper goofball. If our mom dreams up something for their garden, he builds it. If something breaks, we call him and he'll be there with his tool bag ready to go - so much to the point where we call him "Mr. Fix". He is the first to help in finding solutions to problems no matter how big or small, and this also shows in his career. Some years ago he decided to start his own company as a leadership coach and corporate consultant, to guide people to their purpose and build happier work environments. Then unfortunately, last year he was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 Glioblastoma (brain cancer).
We were very fortunate that he was able receive care urgently and had open brain surgery to remove the tumour. The doctors told us the operation went well, but that even after successful surgery, glioblastomas often come back...
Since then, he’s gone through various stages of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, all while wearing a brave face for his family. The physical toll and fatigue has been difficult, and his speech has been affected. Because he was self-employed, there’s been no safety net: no sick pay and no company support. As treatment intensified, he became unable to work. Our Mom has become his full time carer, supporting him through every appointment, every side effect and every tough day.
To make things even harder, their rent has been increased, and they now have to move at a time when stability is needed more than ever. We are setting up this page to help lift some of that burden. The funds will go directly toward:
- A deposit and rent for a new apartment
- Household bills
- Travel to and from hospital appointments
- Potential treatment-related care and medical costs
- Food and everyday living expenses
We want our Dad to focus on fighting and healing, and our Mom to be able to be by his side without constant financial worry. Our dad has spent his life fixing things for everyone else. Building, mentoring, helping, making us laugh.. But sadly this is something he cannot just "fix" alone.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, we are so massively grateful. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean just as much. There are no words to describe how grateful we are to you all. By donating or sharing, you are already helping our Dad in his cancer journey <3
With love,
Juliana and Cassandra
edit: wow… we are so blown away by the enormous amount of support and love we have felt through this GoFundMe. It is incredibly overwhelming in the best way to see all our near and far friends and loved ones rallying for our family this way :’) we weren’t expecting much when we started this GoFundMe but you have all been just incredible… thank you from the bottom of our hearts x
