Andrew's medical bills

If you know Andrew, then you probably have a story about how he helped you with something. Whether it's a job at your house, taking down a tree in your yard, or helping out at the church barbecue, Andrew regularly gives of his time, his expertise, and his friendship.

Today, Andrew needs something from us. On Friday, 8/11, Andrew tripped, lost his balance, and fell backward into a firepit. He suffered severe burns on his arms, legs, and back. The next day he was transferred to the burn unit at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he began treatment. It was determined that he had full- and partial-thickness burns covering 16% of his body.

As of now, Andrew's had surgery to remove debris as well as a skin graft. He's hoping to leave the hospital soon but will be regularly traveling back and forth for follow-up appointments, dressing changes, burn maintenance, etc. It's going to be a long road to recovery.

We're asking for help for the Shankland family to cover the medical costs, travel, and lost wages for the months of Andrew's recovery. If the amount brought in exceeds their needs, the Shanklands will donate what's left to help the recovery of other burn victims.
