Hi...this will be the hardest post I’ll ever write. I have been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. I am as shocked as you are, but it’s happening and I can’t stop it.
On 1/9 I checked myself into the hospital for bilateral pneumonia. They noticed fluid in my heart, but never mentioned it again. On 1/14 I remember feeling like i was going to pass out. I remember laying chest down at the foot of my bed feeling like my heart was going to explode. The nurses found me. My heart rate was 140 and my oxygen was very low. An EKG revealed lots of fluid around my heart. I was taken by ambulance to Spring Valley Hospital for heart surgery where 600cc of fluid was removed. That fluid revealed cancer cells and a PET scan on 1/25 gave me the hardest news of my life.
There are no words to describe what I’m feeling. Especially when I have a beautiful, happy 8.5mth old baby at home. All of it is heavy.
What I do know is I’m strong enough to fight and I’m going to give it my all. I have an amazing support system that has come through like I would have never imagined. And although I don’t know what my future holds, I’m going to do the best that I can to be here for as long as I can.
Remember to find gratitude in every part of your life. We are all blessed more than we truly take the time to appreciate.
