In addition, we organized, hosted, and directed two symposia on the “Representation, Performance and Teaching of Ghanaian Traditional and Contemporary Musical Arts -- Drumming and Dance -- for local Amateur Groups, Teachers and Educators.
Upon a successful completion of this production and symposia, we discovered that Arts Education is not readily available for the youth, the emerging artists and professionals in Ghana. In addition, annual seasons for music and or dance at the National Theatre of Ghana were not being patronized. It is therefore the resolve of Paschal Yao Younge and Zelma Badu-Younge, Directors of Azaguno and Professors at Ohio University, to rekindle arts education in Ghana with the following collaborators:
Amy Appiah Frimpong,

Why this means so much to us?
Arts have become an integral part of every society and all levels education. These experiences introduce different ways of conceptualizing the arts and potentially open up new avenues of creativity, expression, and aesthetic appreciation for the youth, emerging artists and professionals. They are introduced to greater artistic expressions from all over the world and thereby expand their artistic knowledge in addition to helping them to understand that many areas of the world have arts as sophisticated as their own. As a result of these experiences, they will develop greater flexibility and artistic and cultural sensitivity, but unfortunately, arts education, especially music and dance is very minimal and in many cases not available to the youth, especially students in Ghanaian schools. The series of workshops, lectures, demonstrations and concerts are therefore aimed at creating a new appreciation for the arts in Ghana. Most importantly, we hope to rekindle arts education among the youth and in schools.

How thankful we will be:
We are grateful for all donations from $5 and up for this important project. All donors will be acknowledged in both symposia and concert programs.
