Hi everyone!

My name is Alice Tackett and I am a Kindergarten teacher at William M. Meredith in the School District of Philadelphia.

Recently, there has been a shift in literacy instruction as we learn more about how children learn to read. Students need access to books so that they can apply the learning we are doing in phonics. Rather than making a guess or using a picture to 'read' a word, students need and should be using decoding skills.

I am seeking $1800 to bolster my classroom library with decodable books from FlyLeaf and Pioneer Valley Publishing. When we know better, we must do better.
