Josie's Brave Battle
Donation protected
This page has been created for Josie Lynn Ireland. She is a 39 year old mother to sweet Ella who is 4 years old, the wife of Kurt Ireland, a daughter to two loving parents and the younger sister toTrisha. She is a valued co-worker and a cherished friend to many. Josie is one of the strongest woman I know and is currently fighting the bravest battle of her life.
4 years ago Josie was diagnosed with cervical cancer right after the birth of her daughter Ella. As a mother to a newborn she powered through chemotherapy treatments recovering fully. She has been living with a new appreciation of life, and then suddenly everything changed. After 3 months of constant back pain Josie was admitted into the Foothills hospital to discover that cancer has returned to affecting her lower back ,right side on her spine and around her bowels. Josie said that she just “knew” something was wrong just like she just KNOWS that she is going to beat this disease. She started radiation treatment immediately and now that it has finished she will go on to Chemotherapy treatments for the next 4 months.
The average associated costs when going through cancer treatment is $20,000, which can include loss of work, medications not covered, travel, childcare etc. We decided to start this page because many people have asked how they can help, and we can all help to raise funds to assist Josie and her family with some of the extra unexpected expenses so that she can focus solely on her healing journey without the stress of finances.
I want to thank you for the time you’ve taken to read Josie’s story here. Once you read her story you become apart of it. Please keep Josie in your prayers and continue to send positive thoughts. This alone is powerful.
Each one of us has, or knows loved ones who have undergone health complications and medical emergencies and when many good natured people come together, miracles can happen and a special collective of hope is born. Should you feel inclined and feel a personal connection to Josie’s story, we invite you to be a link in the chain that can piece together Josie's health again.
When we are vibrant and healthy, this is the ultimate gift. Let this be a reminder to all of us what a blessing it is to be well.
With Deep Gratitude and appreciation
