Hey friends.
Not something I ever wanted to write but here we are. My sweet Mali needs some help. This past Monday I took Mali to the vet where it was determined she had some back pain and was given some pain pills and anti inflammatory meds and sent home. They seemed to be working and I think in her old age she liked the pain pills and was bouncing around like a little pup again. Early this morning I woke up to bloody poop and vomit all over my apartment. I rushed her to the ER vet where they determined she has Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis or HGE. She is currently getting pumped full of fluids, antibiotics, anti-nausea, among lots of other things I do not understand. They wanted to keep her overnight, but I simply cannot afford it, so we opted for 12hr treatment plan and I will be bringing her home (in diapers) late tonight.
While Mali is an old lady, anyone who has ever met her knows she still has the heart of a puppy. Until this scare today, I truly believed she was going to live forever. While this definitely scared the crap out of us, she is expected to recover. But it has left me with a vet bill that I just cannot cover. This year has not been easy on my wallet, as I know so many people understand. So I need to ask for help.
Once recovered I promise to have Mali thank you all with lots of cuddles and stinky old lady kisses.
