Help us save Louie!!

Since 2/28/2023, Louie has needed multiple trips to his primary vet and the ER. After experiencing some nausea and x-rays showing nothing concerning, we treated his symptoms. Within hours he took a turn for the worst and we ended up rushing him to the ER. He has undergone surgery for a perforation in his stomach, which was followed up with 2 nights in the ICU where he was constantly monitored for any complications. With a miracle, he was sent home and we were over the moon. However, within a couple of days he had to go right back to the ER.
The costs of these visits along with medications, specialty food, more tests and xrays and procedures still needing to be done, it all continues to add up. We do have pet insurance which will only reimburse up to 70% of the costs. Still, we have surpassed the limit of reimbursement and are unsure when we will even see our claims approved.
If you know us at all, you know how much we love our dogs. They are an extension of us and every minute without Louie at home has felt so off. We are draining all of our resources to do everything in our power to help him and we can’t allow our pride to keep us from at least asking for help. He is only 9 months old and we still have so much life to live together!
He has been back to the ER 3 times in the past 48 hours and has been transferred to an internal medicine specialist who is trying to find the root of the issues. They are concerned about his nausea that has started up again so we already have a list of tests and procedures on the horizon, some being performed today.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the challenges of the past couple years, it’s that you have to hold onto any hope and positivity. Receiving the call from the surgeon that she didn’t think he would make it was so unexpected and it felt like everything was a blur. However, we couldn’t stay in that space and had to pick ourselves up and do anything we could to get him back home.
We are so grateful to every medical professional he has seen. They go above and beyond and we have never experienced such an overwhelming amount of support that each hospital and employee has shown. We know this love has been a huge part in what has kept him going.
Please know that we understand that everyone is going through something. We know so many people fighting incredible battles, that we do not want to take away from anyone who needs help as well. If you can’t help financially, we completely understand and just ask for positive thoughts for Louie’s return to health. We have seen what the power of positive thinking can do!
We are greatly appreciative of any help as we continue to fight for our sweet baby boy as we still have a long road ahead. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
