Waylon’s Journey

I have never heard of an untold story helping someone—- so here we go ❤️

In August my 8 year old son, Waylon, was diagnosed with a neurological disorder called Tourette’s syndrome. He has had the toughest year of his life. Around the same time of diagnosis he lost his great papaw (my side) and a grandma (James’ mom). On top of grieving he was trying to process what was happening to himself. I cannot imagine how all of that felt!! It was hard enough as adults to grieve.

Waylon knows that his life is remarkably different now. He says that that he misses when he was younger because everything was normal for him. We have noticed different symptoms since he was younger although we could not put our finger on what was happening. Days have been getting progressively worse over the last year. When everything peaked we didn’t know what hit us!! It was so much going on that I had no idea what was happening. We have shed many tears together! We have been exhausted, frustrated, angry… and all the things. You name it and we felt it! The emotional rollercoaster ain’t fun for nobody!! There are days that we feel all alone in it.

Through it all.. Waylon is clinging to the verse, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” Philippians 4:6 ❤️

We are still crying out for God to heal him!! I know that He has a plan!! I know that He will get the glory for all this!! Waylon is going to make Jesus famous!! It takes time to get evaluations!! It takes time to get help for this kind of thing!! There are waitlist on every end and resources are limited!! With that being said——God has been making a way the WHOLE time!! I can’t even tell you the waitlist that God dismantled to enable Waylon to get in front of the right people!!

To name a few—-

—he saw a psychologist within 6 weeks (should have taken 3 months or more)

—A neurologist within 2 wks (should have taken 6 weeks or more)

—the UA waitlist was suppose to be 6 months or more and we were in within 7 weeks!!!

More testing within 2 weeks that could have taken 2 years to get!!!

I believe that God is a God of miracles!! ❤️❤️ I’m going to go ahead and ask for a Christmas miracle!!

The doctor recommends the sensory program through Snider therapy. We feel that this program will help with a lot of the symptoms that he experiences. The initial evaluation costs around $550 and the 30 day sensory program is $3400. Insurance does not pay for this. We would also need a place to stay in the Huntsville area for 10 days which will costs around $1500. His doctor shares that there are no other options for this kind of therapy in our area. Like we are doing all that we can do. It’s a terrible feeling as a parent to not be able to afford something that you feel would greatly benefit your child. We want this for him!! We want to see improvements!! This therapy is suppose to help him benefit faster from the other therapies that he receives. We know that treatment cannot cure TS but it can help! We want him to be able to function better & live a happy— fulfilling life!! God has great plans for Waylon!!

Please keep our family in your prayers!! Every single day looks different for us!! I know that we are not alone in this!! I know we have people who love us and are on our side!! I know this is a season and we will push thru this!! Show my man some extra love and grace when you see him!! He is so full of life!! He has the best hugs! He is fun!! He is adventurous!! He loves his family! He loves being outdoors! He has a B I G compassionate heart! He has a bright future!! One day he will be telling his kids the story about how God was his WAYMAKER- PROMISE KEEPER & LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS!!!
