Hi my name is Hailey. I adopted my cat Chicken Nugget (Snuggelette/Nuggelette/Drooly McChicken) back in December 2018 from a Pet Valu. She was roughly 1 years old. She is now just over 7 years old now and since three weeks ago just around new years I heard her start to cough, harshly, intensely and became very worried. I took her for a checkup, and she seemed okay, but over a few days it progressively got worse, coughing more frequently, though originally her bloodwork came back okay and her physical exam was fine. But when I took her for the xray, her lungs were harsh sounding, and when the results came back they said there was a mass and referred me to a vet specialist to do more testing. It continued to get worse, as she was wheezing, snoring and sometimes she had to force to breathe normal. Today we did a ct scan, with signs of fluid in the lung and a tumour/abscess the size of almost half of her left lung.

Surgery is recommended regardless of our diagnosis which they will remove one whole lobe of her lung that is affected. It could be benign or infection, but the signs are suspicious and may be cancerous. She will need to have the tumour removed hopefully as soon as possible and need monitoring in the hospital 1-3 nights with medicine.

I am not hopeless. I believe she will be healthy again and that the diagnosis, medication, surgery will help her and things will shift to her being healthy and happy again.

My pet insurance will not cover this surgery, because she has had “coughing” as a symptom before her policy started.
