Meatball is a 4-year-old English Bulldog who has only been at the shelter for a week, but has already stolen everyone's hearts. Staff noticed he had blood in his urine and was dribbling/straining to pee. On top of that, he had little to no interest in food and threw up, so off to the vet he went. The vet visit revealed that Meatball has crystals in his bladder and in his urethra. Bloodwork showed that his kidneys look good which is a relief. He will be staying at the vet where they could attempt to push the crystals in his urethra back into his bladder, then attempt to dissolve them OR they could go in surgically and perform a cystotomy. If the attempts to move and dissolve the crystals don't work, then this could very quickly turn into an emergency for Meatball, so we would like to err on the side of caution and send him into surgery. The estimate for his care is currently at $1500. Friends of Exeter Animals have already given the vet the OK to move forward with his treatment, but would appreciate any and all donations towards this unexpected, yet necessary expense.
