Candace's Lyme Disease Treatment Fundraiser

Greetings family and friends,

As most of you know, I have been facing a challenging battle with Lyme disease for the past four years. I went from a completely healthy and happy 24-year old who loved working out and teaching fitness classes, going to raves, concerts, and music festivals, traveling, working, and spending time with my friends and family to being extremely ill, disabled, and bedbound in a matter of 6 months. Unfortunately, my symptoms were misdiagnosed as ME/CFS or chronic fatigue syndrome for the first year and a half, allowing the Lyme and coinfections to spread all over my body and cross the blood-brain barrier. I finally went to see a Lyme literate doctor in the fall of 2019 who diagnosed me with Lyme disease and likely co-infections of Babesia and Bartonella and confirmed reactivated elevated levels of Epstein Barr Virus, Cytolomgelavirus, and HHV6 Virus. After being treated by her for the past couple of years with an intense regiment of antibiotics, antivirals, immune system modulators, and herbals, I have significantly improved in many ways. That being said, I still have a long way to go to get back to being a healthy, functional adult. I still can't work due to fatigue, post-exertional malaise, brain fog, short-term memory loss, and a general constant feeling of disorientation/ being in a dream-like state. I still can't drive due to disorientation and occasional dizziness. And I can't walk more than 1000-2000 steps a day due to peripheral neuropathy, or more specifically, nerve pain in my upper thighs and weakness in my calves.

This Go-Fund-Me is to help me raise money to try an adjunctive Lyme disease treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy, or HBOT. The goal of the therapy is to help speed up the progress of my improvements so I can hopefully return to a better quality of life sooner. The treatment will require me to go into a 100% oxygen-filled chamber for an hour and a half six days a week for a total of 40-60 treatments. Research has proven that the Lyme spirochetes die in the oxygen chamber under an atmospheric pressure of 2.36. Below I have attached a few scientific articles stating the effectiveness of the treatment for Lyme disease patients from trials. The conclusion of the most commonly cited study and supporting studies have found that the therapy helped 80-85% of Lyme patients improve significantly in their trial.

I would be deeply grateful if you were able to contribute to my fundraiser to allow me to try this treatment that could help me significantly. Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider a donation. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

You can also donate my venmoing or PayPaling me and I will transfer the fund and make the donation in your name.
