Luca, for those who have never met him, is always cheerful and has many qualities which endear him to so many! He loves to play and particularly loves imaginative play with dinosaurs, cars, and superhero toys.
He is a delight to be around, loved by his friends and their families. Like most children his age, he has experienced many colds and sniffles, and usually recovers quickly and bounces back to his playful and cheeky antics
However, around Christmas 2024, Luca began experiencing a series of viral infections and complained of leg pain intermittently. His pain escalated on February 11th, 2025, when he was unable to bear any weight on his left leg. Consequently, he was admitted to Lancaster Hospital, where further tests were conducted, including an X-ray, ultrasound, and blood work. Abnormalities were detected in the fluid surrounding his hip, prompting a transfer to Alder Hey Hospital for further evaluation.
Regrettably, on February 14th, 2025, doctors delivered the devastating news to Luca’s parents, Lee and Emma that Luca had been diagnosed with leukaemia. News that no one would ever want to hear, let alone when it concerns your own child.
Luca was immediately transferred to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to commence his treatment. This is an incredibly challenging and confusing time for him, alongside his Mum and Dad. Luca also celebrated his 3rd Birthday in hospital.
The path ahead is still uncertain and whilst Luca remains in good spirits, he is still very confused as to why he is there and being subjected to many things which are alien to him. Lee and Emma are doing everything they can to support him, make him comfortable and do their best to get him through each day.
Now, whilst this is a difficult situation for Luca and his family, there is the brutal reality that they are going to face many challenges that are going to affect how they live their lives during Luca’s treatment and recovery. With this in mind, we what to kindly ask for your help and give generously so that Luca and his family are able to make the best choices and decisions in their time of crisis.
It is with the greatest intentions that alongside this GoFundMe page, there will be other fundraisers taking place for Luca. We will update this page with Luca’s progress, moments and events and the fundraisers taking place and when.
Any monies raised and not used will be donated to a charity of Emma and Lee's choosing.
Thank you in advance for your time and donations.
