Everyone you meet brings a different aspect to your life whether good or bad. As I speak for many about Anahy Sanchez. She is a very pretty, spunky, fun, sasay, loyal and loving lady. She is someone you meet and remember for her infections laugh and her mood/day altering smile. She is definitely someone that can make your day. On March 7, 2023, when she was out and about grabing a bite to eat with her boyfriend. He decided that wanted to show off and run a red light at a high rate of speed and they were hit on the passenger side front door where Ana was sitting. He walked away with no injuries. He wasnt there for her as she fought for her life for something he caused. She was extracted from the car and was in and out of consciousness. She was rushed to the hospital and they did alot of test and had multiple doctors assisting to see the extent of her injuries . She was intubated with scapes and bruises all over her body when we arrived. The doctors told us that she had suffered severe brain trauma, multiple broken bones and internal damage. They immediately did a craniotomy to relieve the pressure from the brain swelling and to allow her brain space to heal. She was in critical condition and would remain in a coma for about 2 weeks. As the days went on she showed great signs and they wanted to try and remove the vent. We all were so excited thinking ok this is progress she is getting better, she spikes a fever and the vent has to stay. Our family fears the worst and feels so helpless as we watch our Ana get poked and poked for blood. We were told that she would not survive a serious infection. They found her lungs were full of fluid. She needed emergency surgery to put a drain tube. One set back after another. Very tough but we had to stay positive and pray to the heavens. After a week or so, the attempt to remove the vent was successful. The joy our family felt. She was fighting and not giving up. One day she opened her eyes and she began sobbing in confusion and fear. At this point, mom quit her job to be with her full time. This added so much additional stress to our family but it was for the best. As days went on healing continued, she began therapies to get stronger and becoming mobile. The right side of her body was not working and she couldn't feel it. She felt like she would never be normal again. She began crying alot and smiling less and less. She felt her dreams of doing nails was over. Our family and friends were there with her round the clock to make sure she stays as positive as possible. Everyday brought its on a set of challenges and successes. She kept pushing forward and was walking with her walker and the helmet to protect her head. Wearing the helmet hurt but she coped and did the very best she could. She communicated with her thumbs and when we heard her voice and laugh for the first time since her accident there was an amazing feeling of joy. Seeing her struggle and be in so much pain is unbearable at times but we showed up everyday to be with her and to help her heal and bring back the smile and laugh that melts the hearts of so many. The day came and she was being released. The journey to get here was hard but as hard as it was Ana never gave up and neither did our whole family. We have her home and she continues her therapy to gain strength in her right limbs. . She has been home now for about a year and is able to do more for herself and grows everyday. Time has finally came to put back the skull that was removed. The surgery went well. Days continued and another set back came, she had started having seizures. She was put on medication and the healing continues. As of today, she doesnt have full use of her right side and still in therapy but she is strong and an inspiration to anyone who knows her and the smile and laugh that brings such joy to our hearts is back more and more everyday. Her life is forever changed by the decision someone else made but she holds her head high and accepts her normal and continues to push for her dreams.
What we didn't talk about was the financial responsibly why because the only thing that mattered was Ana everything else could wait. Well just like every bill they don't just go away. The driver's car insurance was so bad and barelu covered ahything. Our health insurance has picked up a portion but the balance is still owed and all the other household bills and as much as we try we can't get ahead. We appreciate everyone who has supported our family. If there is any donation you could make will help our family relieve the financial strain and able to lessen the stress of this unexpected accident. Most importantly and dear to our hearts is the ability to be in the right head space to cherish the GIFT of having ANAHY SANCHEZ here with us today.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for your donation.
