Family & friends
On July 1st my father called me and told me something you never want to hear from someone you love. He called to inform me that he had an unexpected trip from work to the emergency room in his town in st Mary’s. With the scans, xrays, and testing that was done at his emergency visit, he found out the very scary unfortunate news that they had found multiple masses on his brain. From St Mary’s they sent him straight to St Rita’s hospital in Lima, Ohio in hopes they could tell him more answers as to what a next step would be.
The very next morning he met with his family Dr. and straight from there he left to go to Columbus, Ohio to the James Center. On July 2nd he was checked intothe James and getting more tests and MRIs. The following day on July 3rd he received even more scary news that they had found a tumor on his lungs and brain. He started receiving steroid medication so the swelling on his brain would reduce, as he was to have brain surgery as soon as possible the next week. The following days he had even more CT scans and testing done.
With all of the testing they had found even more tumors in multiple parts of his body including his lungs and liver. The doctors needed to do a biopsy to see if the tumors were malignant or benign.
With a waiting game on when he was going to be scheduled to have brain surgery he got released and got to return home for a few days. The following Monday he was a scheduled to go back and receive radiation treatments on his brain Monday-Friday and brain surgery was finally scheduled for Friday morning. In the meantime he was on multiple medications including a chemo pill. Radiation treatments were going good and Friday morning upon arrival back at the James, he was unable to get the surgery because of a fever and his white blood platelets were extremely low. So he was to continue taking the chemo pills as directed and continue to wait to see what route to take next.
After more blood work, his team of doctors had to give him the news that his chemo pills that had seemed to be working, had stopped. His white platelets continued to drop so he was to stop taking them. He is now back home waiting on the next plan of action he will take on the journey to getting better. He will receive chemo medication through an IV since the pills were not cooperating with his body.
He has found out he has melanoma cancer throughout his body in different organs. Because of all of the treatments he has already done, and will have to continue doing , Kevin is unable to work right now. Considering how dedicated he is to his work position, this is going to be very trying for him. Kevin has a heart of gold, and is one of the strongest people in my life. He is always there to give love and supportto anyone who may need it. Even with his insurance, the medical bills will keep coming along with other expenses as well.
I’m asking at this vulnerable time in his life that we rally behind him as he takes on this fight. Now it’s time we send back some of that love and support to Kevin. Nothing is too big or too small, and if you’re unable to help out, please please please send your prayers and positive thoughts his way! Every prayer counts.
