Scarlett McNeil, a daughter, sister, aunt, co-worker, and friend to many has received some devastating news at the tender age of 29. For the past 3-4 weeks, Scarlett has been complaining about pain in her side to which her doctor thought was her gallbladder/muscle pain. On December 8th Scarlett went to CapRock Emergency where she found out she has a cancerous tumor on her liver and was referred to see doctors in the Houston Area. Doctors told us today , December 18th, that Scarlett has a rare type of liver cancer that affects teenagers and young adults called Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Surgery is the only effective method to remove this tumor and has been scheduled for January 4th, 2016.  Scarlett has incurred over $2000 in expenses so far and this is only the beginning. As many of you may know, insurance will not pay 100% of the cost.  Also, the deductible for her insurance is very high. This is a financial strain for Scarlett as she has already traveled to and from Houston several times in one week, and wil have to continue to travel to Houston to continue treatment . She is having to terminate her lease early in order to free up funds to help pay for medical expenses. She is moving in with my mom and I, (which my mom is like her adopted/second mom), so we can help her as much as possible financially, emotionally, and physically. We are asking for donations to help offset the cost of these medical treatments and travel expenses. If you feel led to donate, please help by any donation amount possible.
