Help Baby Audrey & The Bess Family!

On February 19th, at 37 weeks pregnant, Alison went to the doctor for her regular check-up appointment. When they did the ultrasound she heard the tech say, “Oh this is not good.” There was fluid around Baby Audrey's lungs... Adam, her husband, rushed her to Toledo Hospital where multiple tests were run on her. They told her she needed to be transported immediately to U of M by ambulance.
Shortly after arriving at U of M, they did a procedure before labor to draw some of the fluid out of Audrey's lungs to help with her breathing. Alison was then induced and delivered her baby in the OR on Friday, February 21st. What was supposed to be one of the happiest times of Alison & Adam's lives then became one of the scariest as Audrey was immediately rushed to the NICU. They weren't allowed to hold or see their new baby girl and Alison, who was dealing with preeclampsia, was herself being monitored very closely.
Audrey was put on a cooling blanket to reduce her body temperature to 91 degrees for three days in case her brain did not receive enough oxygen. They put in two chest tubes to drain the fluid from around her lungs which was causing them to collapse. She was on a vent for almost 3 weeks and an IV was put in her leg to draw blood and feed her nutrients.
Audrey had what they call chylothorax which has many potential causes. She was losing a lot of lymphatic fluid so they had to give her blood plasma to restore what was lost.
On Monday, March 9th, (19 days later) the vent was finally removed and little squeaks were heard from her throat as her first cries! As the people of God prayed, the fluid began to cease and one by one, the painful chest tubes were removed and just this past Tuesday, March 17th her PICC line was removed from her leg!
Now, over a month later, Alison & Adam are staying in the Ronald McDonald House in Ann Arbor, MI and Audrey is being monitored as she gets Alison’s skimmed milk. If she can keep this milk down then they will let Alison nurse her and see how her body receives that. We are continuing to pray for this incredible family and are believing that Audrey will be fully healed and that they will be able to go home soon!
Hospital stays are extremely expensive and this family has been in the hospital fighting for the life of their baby for over a month now. This means a lot of lost time at work for both of them and mounting medical bills. Many have been praying for them and we want to continue to do so but we also want to come around them in their time of greatest need and sew generously into their lives financially!
Thank you so much for reading, watching and giving. Will you also join us in sharing this on Facebook & Instagram as well?!
