Support Richard's Battle Against Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Richard, and I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. In August 2024, I was hospitalized twice within 2 weeks for low iron due to internal bleeding, and they couldn't figure out where I was bleeding. I was tired all the time and had trouble staying awake at work.
In March 2025, I went to the ER because I was nauseous and couldn't keep food down. They found a mass in my abdomen. I was in the hospital for a week and had a several-hour surgery to remove the mass, which came back as cancerous. It was stage 4, as the mass they removed was what had already spread from my intestines. I have had two CT scans, an MRI, a PET scan, several more iron infusions, and chemo. At the beginning of August 2025, I will be having a bowel resection.
Through all of this, I have been unable to work, and my medical team will not release me to do so until I am fully healed from the surgery and am considered in remission. My medical leave from work is now exhausted. I have made it this far, but I am now beginning to struggle financially. The copays for my treatment are not cheap; the PET scan alone was $1180 out of pocket. Anything you can give will help me receive treatment so that I can live.
