Help secure the future of the Essex Jewish News

One of the only newspapers of its type anywhere in the world, the Essex Jewish News (EJN) is a vital part of the Essex Jewish community.

For more than 50 years, it has covered and highlighted the successes and achievements of the Jewish congregations, schools, charities, businesses and people of Essex and East Anglia.

Founded in 1972, and originally called The Bridge, 20,000 copies of the paper are printed and given away for free in Redbridge, Wanstead, Woodford, Chigwell, Chingford, Romford, Ongar, Southend, Epping, Harlow, Chelmsford, Cambridge and beyond.

It is a way for those in the community to keep up to date with what is happening and advertise the uniqueness and richness of Judaism in Essex to those outside of it.

Printing three times a year (for Pesach, Rosh Hashanah and Chanukah), the paper is also supported by a website and social media channels.

The EJN offering is delivered by a team of volunteers, all working their hardest to bring the best news to the community in an easy-to-read and enjoyable format.

However, with rising print and paper costs – advertising revenue can’t keep pace with the costs of producing and distributing the paper.

The amount needed to keep the paper and website afloat is relatively small – around £10,000 a year for the next 5 years – but without it the EJN will not survive and a vital part of Essex Jewish life will be lost forever.
