Rest in Love Moms Memorial Fund
Donation protected
For the memorial of my mom, Merle Michiko (Hino) Cosma. Aka. Aunty "Chiko". My dad and I need to raise money to lay my mom to rest next to my brother and sister who are waiting in heaven for her. Any amount will help and be greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.
Mom was a fighter.. Through illness and adversity throughout her life, she endured with my father ALWAYS by her side, but ultimately lost her battle to cancer Saturday 12, 2015.
She was born April 1935 on Kauai, youngest of 9, her parents immigrated from Japan in the early 1900's. As many families of Japanese ancestry have in their histories, her father was taken and interned during ww2. While 3 of her brothers faught in the 442 as well as in Vietnam. I can't begin to imagine the difficult times they faced as children but understand and respect why so many of them just didn't want to talk about it.
My mom LOVED to cook and to fish. She'd take us to lanikai to cast her poles and fish for Papio.. Or we would go to Heeia pier and lay crab nets and fish all afternoon. In the 50's (before I came along of course) she opened a lunch wagon... Appropriately naming it "chiko's lunch wagon". Serving up local favorites of beef stew, maki sushi, and the like to the Stevador longshoremen off Sand Island.
Always unselfish, with an unwavering belief and love for Jesus and our Lord. She did everything she could for her children and family. She now rests in peace with my sister Sheila and a brother Jason.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I could go on and on but I'll stop here for now.
