Jessica's Journey
Donation protected
My name is Ashley and I'm Jessica's cousin. I've been asked by a few of her friends to help put together another GoFundMe for her and her family to help with their needs.
As most of you know, she was diagnosed with leukemia in 2019. She was in remission for a little over 2 years when she felt a knot in her abdomen. Upon further testing and surgery in November 2021, they determined that her cancer was back and acting a bit more aggressive.
After a surgery to remove the mass, they found it was attached to a few different organs and had to determine its origin. She and her medical team planned for an extensive surgery to remove any organ she could live without and administer chemo directly to her abdomen (called a HIPEC surgery) but she had to go through several rounds of chemo infusions before the surgery.
Unfortunately, before her surgery could take place, she ended up in the hospital again with what they believed to be a small bowel obstruction. That wasn't the case and it was found that she had multiple masses in her abdominal cavity and ended up having to get another ostomy and a g-tube in addition to the HIPEC surgery in November 2022.
The prognosis after that surgery and discovery was not great and now they're doing everything they can to help her survive as long as they can. I wish there was a nicer way to say that, but it's the sad truth. She's been unable to work through this all and her significant other, Gary, has thankfully been able to work it out with his job so that he could be home a lot to help her. Her pain stays high and she has more hard days than not. But friends and family have been helping out where we can.
So we're asking for donations to help offset living costs, if you feel led to do so. And most of all, prayers for her health and for her family during the hard times.
(Please know that Jessica and her family have sole access to any donations made here! However, if you you would rather donate in a different way, you can reach out for PO box address or PayPal info.)
