WHAT I AM DOING WITH MY GERMANY TRIP, AND WHY I NEED YOUR HELP
I am really excited about this trip to Germany coming up this weekend. I am going to go and see the village where my dad's ancestors lived since pretty much the dawn of recorded history, Martfeld, Kingdom of Hannover (now Lower Saxony). The plan is to spend a few days really getting to know not only the old country (in general), but our actual village... to walk the country roads around Martfeld, to sit in a coffee house and listen to farmers speak country dialect; to attend my gg grandfather's church, to maybe find the actual ancestral house and then to write a book about the experience, called "My Father's Country."
I have just finished the first book in a series, about life in Nebraska during the Great Depression and World War II, and now am going back a little further. There will hopefully be some spiritual insights about the "search for home" that is so much a part of human life.
I am still needing $900 to be able to go on this trip. Your support would be much appreciated.
