Hi, my name is Kara and I’m starting this fundraiser for my dad, Jorge.

Jorge is only 43 years old and is currently battling severe kidney and liver failure. Our lives have changed very suddenly, and right now my focus is on supporting him as he begins what will be a long road to recovery.

If you know my dad, you know how much he means to the people around him. He is someone who brings steady strength, comfort, and love to his family, and seeing him in this condition has been incredibly difficult.

He was luckily able to be discharged after spending two weeks in the ICU but his journey is far from being over. He will need ongoing care for months if not years, including dialysis three times weekly, rehabilitation, and other ongoing procedures. He is also waiting to be placed on the liver transplant list. Because of this, he is unable to work, and the financial burden is quickly becoming overwhelming.

All donations will be put to use for ICU and hospital bills, dialysis treatments, procedures such as paracentisis, and ongoing medical care.

At this time, we don’t have a set fundraising goal, as his needs are still unfolding day by day. Any support will go directly toward helping my dad get the care he needs so he can focus on healing.

We will also be creating an Amazon wishlist with items that will help make him more comfortable at home.
