M2M Challenge 2026 – Menorca to Mallorca by Stand Up Paddle Board

Seven years ago, I moved to Mallorca and built a sustainable business around my passion for paddle boarding—not only to share my love of the ocean, but also the peace, tranquillity, and mindfulness that time on the water can bring.

Living and working so closely with the sea has given me a deep connection to it, while also exposing me to the growing impact of human activity and tourism on our marine environment. Once you witness that first-hand, protecting it becomes impossible to ignore.

Four years ago, I was introduced to Deborah and the team at the Palma Aquarium Fundación, and seeing their work up close left a lasting impression on me. Their dedication to rescuing, rehabilitating, breeding, and releasing some of the Mediterranean’s most iconic marine species inspired me immediately, and I knew I wanted to support their mission however I could.

Then, two years ago, a chance meeting with ultra runner Maik Becker—a spontaneous morning on the water and shared stories—sparked a conversation about the possibility of paddle boarding from Menorca to Mallorca.

What began as a bold idea quickly grew into something more meaningful.

When Maik approached me last year about turning the idea into reality, we decided that if we were going to attempt this challenge, we would do it for a purpose.

In 2026, we will paddle board from Menorca to Mallorca—a crossing of 50 to 65 kilometres, mostly at night, through one of the Mediterranean’s most notorious channels—to raise funds for the Palma Aquarium Fundación and support their vital marine conservation work.

Funds raised will support their mission to:

- Conserve biodiversity

- Restore damaged ecosystems and aid the recovery of endangered species

- Deliver environmental education and outreach programmes

Donations will also help fund vital projects including:

- Sea turtle rescue, rehabilitation, and release

- Balearic Island seahorse (Cavallets de mar balears) breeding and release programmes

- Shark breeding and release initiatives, including for the critically endangered nursehound shark

- Marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, and release

This challenge is about more than crossing open water.

It is about giving back to the sea that has shaped my life and livelihood.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help protect the Mediterranean’s waters and wildlife for generations to come.
