My name is Jamie. I'm a widowed army wife. I lost my retired army veteran husband  4 years ago. We shared a beautiful home together that was supposed to be our forever home. The mortgage and title was all in my late husband's name. Since his passing I have always paid our mortgage on-time and never missed a payment. Then, last year in 2022 the mortgage company (who has had many lawsuits against them) suddenly said I owed thousands of dollars for the property taxes. My husband was a 100% disabled veteran. Therefore in the state of Michigan was property tax exempt. I also remain property tax exempt being the surviving spouse. The mortgage company was claiming I owed a years worth of property taxes I did not owe. I got the paperwork from my city and proved to them I am tax exempt. They did not care and would not remove these charges. They, then proceeded to put my home into foreclosure over this. I hired a lawyer and have been working hard the last 6 months to get the estate in my name and was pre-approved for a loan in my name to get the home legally in my name and out of this shady mortgage company's name ( Mr. Cooper/Nationstar). While I was legally fighting for my home. The mortgage company sold my home to the VA. The VA purchased my home in November 2022. I was NEVER NOTIFIED! I got a phone call 2 weeks ago in June from the realtor working for the VA stating the VA now owns my home and I had 3 weeks to pack mine and my late husbands belongings and find a place to live. I was in a panic. 3 weeks is not long enough to pack on your own and find a place to live. I applied for an extension. I was given 1 extra month only. For a total of 1 month and 3 weeks to pack and and find somewhere to live. I am absolutely devastated to lose my beautiful home I shared with my late husband. I am scrambling to try to find somewhere to live. I would love more then anything to save my home. But, don't think that's possible. I have been spending my extra time packing and looking for a home. I am struggling financially to make this happen and have a very short time to do so. The expenses of moving, packing supplies, needing a storage unit, first and last months rent etc. has become a heavy burden on top of all the stress of losing my home. If you could help ease this burden at all I would be absolutely greatlful. Any amount will help and is a blessing.
