My name is Andrew Scherer II, I’m 21 years old, and I was named after my dad. Losing him has been the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. His passing was sudden and completely unexpected — it shook me, my sister, and our whole family.

My dad raised us pretty much on his own. He was more than just a father; he was my best friend, my mentor, and my safety net. No matter what, he was only one call away. And now, for the first time in our lives, my sister and I are left to handle everything without him.

We’re trying to take care of everything ourselves — from planning the funeral and burial, to covering the casket, gravestone engraving, and service costs, to transporting him to the funeral home, handling the legal paperwork, and going through all of his belongings like his tools, furniture, keepsakes, family photos, and important documents. It’s a lot to carry, both emotionally and financially, and we’ve quickly learned just how expensive it is to lay someone to rest.

If any loved ones would like to attend my father's funeral ceremony it is going to be held at Ziegenhein and sons funeral home 4830 Lemay Ferry Road St. Louis Mo, 63129 at 10:30 am on August 15th, burial to follow.
