On September 29, 2021 at 4am, my father, Richard Thomas suddenly passed away from Covid. He leaves behind his wife Nicoletta, daughter Raquel, and son Nicholas. My father was only 58 years old and in great health. This has truly left our entire family in shock and our hearts broken.

While in the hospital, he called my mom to say he was being put on a ventilator and was scared. He wanted to make sure my mom and we, his kids, knew how much he loved us. Of course we did not know at the time that this would be the last time we would speak to him. A few hours after being placed on the ventilator, my father passed away.

About 12 years ago, my father was unfairly deported to Jamaica - despite being legally married to my mother. Even though our dad wasn’t here, and regardless of the cost of international calls, we spoke every single day and he was a part of our lives. There wasn’t one day he didn’t tell us how much he missed us, how much he loved us and how proud he was of us. But most importantly, he dreamed of all of us being together one day soon. He was such an important and big part of our lives.

For the last 12 years, we have been fighting to get him home, here to America. We were making progress but unfortunately, it wasn’t resolved in enough time.

My family and I are asking for your assistance with the hope of bringing him home so we not only can finally be reunited, but we can actually have a chance to say a proper goodbye. Your contribution will help in bringing him home and will assist with funeral costs.
