I created this gofundme page to help my late friend's family with any financial aid they may need. I do not know how much money they need, so I set my goal to raise at least $500. 

In late 2013, our best friend, Itzayana, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was studying Political Science at UC Merced and was very involved in the campus community when she received the news and had to take leave to have the tumor surgically removed. Her bright spirit &warm smile, her happy disposition and inner fire had a positive impact on all who were lucky enough to know her both at UC Merced & back home.

She underwent chemotherapy and radiation; however, the tumor returned late last summer. After this, she spent months in the hospital where she slowly lost her mobility and ability to communicate. 

She fought very hard, but unfortunately on Friday, February 6th, two days after her 21st birthday, she passed away.

Itzayana was a kind and loving person. A truly one of a kind friend. A happy person who cared about the ones she loved. So now I am trying to raise money to assist her family through this difficult time.
