I never thought I'd be doing a GoFundMe. I also never thought I'd be planning this particular funeral, but life has a way of providing us beautiful opportunities to stretch ourselves and extend our love and resources onto others in the most unexpected ways.
Lucy was my daughter's grandmother. She died yesterday, alone in a hospital, the morning after we sat at her bedside saying goodbye. Lucy was a complicated woman, but so full of love. Sure of her values, she'd move heaven and earth to stand by her convictions. Her inner compass is what brought her to America from her native Latvia, start entirely over in a new country, and led her to embrace Judaism later on in life. Lucy loved the same way she lived: strong and fierce. My daughter was her whole world.
Tomorrow, she'll be buried near her family member in a Jewish cemetery. But I need your help. Funerals, turns out, are incredibly costly. Every contribution will help cover the costs of gifting Lucy a dignified tahara. kevura and levaya. I am so very grateful for any contribution, share, re-post, good deed done in her name, or prayer in her memory. May her neshama have the highest aliyah.
