On June June 30th, Xandra and Roy were amongst the families that had less than 15 minutes to evacuate their home from the heart of the Lytton Fire. They left with a bag of clothes each, their dog, and their truck. Leaving behind Kass'cat Bagera, a car, a camper trailer, an aluminum boat and all of their belongings. Their home burnt to the ground along wth the village that they each grew up in. Their daughter Kass, was no longer living at the house, but much of her belongings were still at the house as well. In the week following, Xandra also lost her Mother and family Matriarch Gina Quinn. It has been a hard month for the Phillips/Quinn and Spinks families as they are all coping with the loss of their Home and belongings, along with her Mother and town.
Xandra & Roy did not have contents insurance for their home on the Lytton reserve, this fundraiser is meant to help provide some reprieve in the uncertainty ahead as this family rebuilds their life. This fundraiser will assist Xandra, Roy and Kass in replenishing their belongings once they have a permanent home again. Xandra and Roy are avid mountain people, harvesting, hunting, canning and putting up food for the winter. It is our hopes that we can help them in purchasing their back-country, camping, fishing and harvesting gear, replacing their wall tent and to help them find some sense of normal again this coming fall.
This fundraiser is being coordinated by their Son Chris Phillips and their Daughter in Law Kelly Edzerza-Bapty whom reside in Golden BC. Many community members and family have reached out to us to ask us how they can help and provide support. We appreciate those that have had us and our family in their thoughts, and whom have provided help to date. All donations are greatly appreciated.
In helping out our Lytton family, we thank all of you.
