Lyrics vet bills
This weekend Lyric was playing in my parents pond. After a few hours of what we thought was a bit obsessive but harmless play lyric got out of the water. Within about 15 minutes he couldn’t walk, was staggering to stand, and whiny loudly. His eyes were dilated and unfocused. I ran to call Carleton who came home from work. By the time he arrived home lyric was laying awkwardly in the grass, I thought he was dying in front of my eyes. We put him in the car to take to the small local vet. I was holding wilder and Carleton drove. Islands Vet clinic jumped into action and stabilized lyric. They sedated him and intubated him to calm his brain and gain control of his breathing. His sodium was very low from drinking too much water. Leaving him at high risk for seizures and permanent brain damage. The clinic on island is unable to care for pets overnight which lyric needed. Being the holiday weekend and due to the severity of lyrics condition we were unable to take the ferry. We were able to charter a flight for him and Carleton over to an emergency vet clinic on the mainland. There was no question in our minds that we needed to do everything possible for lyric. He spent the night and was monitored and treated by Mount Vernon emergency vet hospital. After a lot of “wait and see” and tears. We received the call that lyric was going to be ok. He is back home now, but not yet himself. We are hopeful he is just tired from a brush with death. Lyric is our best friend, the best snuggler, the best dog. If you are able to help us cover the cost of his vet care and flight off the island we would be forever grateful.
As a thank you we’d love to send you either a “wilder Woolley” fly fishing fly or some wildflower seeds. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts
