Lyric Needs Medical Help

Hi there, my name is Melissa, and I'm Lyric's "Mom". Her registered name is ADDICTED TO THE DREAM, because since I've been able to walk I've been addicted to horses and working towards living the dream of having one. Lyric is currently hospitalized at Hagyard veterinary hospital in Lexington Kentucky following a severe colic episode that started yesterday evening.

I've never created a GoFundMe to support one of my personal animals before. It's really hard and humbling to write this, if I'm being honest. I reserve crowd funding for animals I've found, rescued, and rehabilitated. This expense, however, is going to blow my budget for emergency medical costs, and based on symptoms Lyric deserved a chance to recover from this. She's a young, healthy, 10 year old Rocky Mountain Horse mare that holds my heart. Lyric is my personal trail horse. She's the first weanling I purchased, raised and trained myself. This horse is a piece of me and the sweetest, goofiest animal that ever lived.

Currently, she's on a lidocaine drip and fluids. Ultrasound reveals improvement from just 7 hours ago with less intestinal distention and bowel matter moving! But she was still acting colicy. The veterinarian ran a videoscopy and found a large fibrous mass in her stomach. They're currently working on breaking that down and lavaging it out. She's expected to stay another day at least, but she is showing improvement!
