Lyra's opportunity to be an exchange student: Okinawa Japan

Dene Magna school, where Lyra is in year 9, has had a long standing relationship with two partner schools in Okinawa (Japan), Chatan Junior High School and Kuwae Junior High School.

As part of the cultural exchange, Dene Magna welcomes Students and Staff from Okinawa in November. During this visit, our Japanese friends experience all the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire has to offer as well as trips out with host families and a trip to London. The students and staff from Okinawa also experience school life and spend time in lessons.

Lyra has been selected to be part of the student exchange, where we will host a Japanese child in our home this November, and she will travel to Okinawa next summer.

We are so delighted for her to have the opportunity, but this does come at a huge cost. We are reaching out in all directions to do fundraisers and support her to go - and we would be SO grateful if you could spare any small amount of money to donate to her, and also to share widely with anyone who may know her.
