The Lyons Den Restaurant Stand for Freedom Fund

On April 24, 2019, Randall and Denise Yarbrough opened The Lyons Den Restaurant and Taphouse in Lyons, CO.

As everyone knows, Colorado is now into it’s 2nd “Lockdown” of small businesses and restaurants across the state. Restaurants are now closed to inside dining for an undetermined amount of time once again. Some, such as Lyons Den Restaurant and Taphouse, are standing their ground as patriots against these unconstitutional and tyrannical orders. By choosing to stay open and allowing their patrons to continue to enjoy some resemblance of normalcy, allowing their employees to continue to work to pay their bills and feed their families, allowing themselves the opportunity to try and save their business, pay their own bills and feed their own families, they are getting threatened with hefty fines, court dates, license revocation, even potential arrest. Why don’t small businesses get the same regard as the larger box stores? What makes them so different? Is COVID that selective on where it strikes?

The first round of lockdowns back in March of 2020 were devastating. Many people around the state had to be laid off and file for unemployment. The “relief efforts” were slow-coming and very unclear. The state finally agreed to allow a limited capacity back in restaurants and that was helpful for places like Lyons Den Restaurant and Taphouse that has a large space. The problem then came with the fear to the general public that had already been embedded about being around others. Business was definitely not even close to normal numbers for any restaurant, but there was hope.

Then, in November, it was decided by the authorities that be (aka Governor Polis), to once again shut restaurants down for inside dining. Patios (in the winter in Colorado) were still allowed to serve with social distancing. As you can imagine, this is not a feasible solution for a restaurant to stay afloat. Lyons Den Restaurant and Taphouse decided, based on the fact that they had a pretty regular crowd of people that had been patronizing them through this entire ordeal with ZERO cases of COVID from any of their employees or customers, to exercise their Constitutional Right to stay open and continue to allow people inside. Their customers were so grateful to still have somewhere to go in the middle of this isolating, depressing time. The Lyons Den has been harassed by the Boulder County Sherriff and the Town of Lyons Board of Trustees to the point they suspended their liquor license overnight. Unacceptable! This, again, is tyranny!

They need your help! Their employees, family, and customers that rely on them continuing to be a staple in the Town of Lyons need your support! They are fighting a tough fight. They are not only fighting this fight for their own, but for all of the small businesses that these lockdowns will kill in their wake. They are standing up for all Americans. Please help if you possibly can. They need and deserve ALL of the support they can get!
