Lyola McKnight Recovery Fund
On March 27, 2021, my sister, Lyola McKnight survived a serious car accident. She suffered extensive and traumatic injuries to both feet, ankles, leg and knee. She is a nanny to a beautiful 12yo girl who has non-verbal autism. She was in the car and escaped with a minor physical injury.
Lyola is a single Mom to two amazing daughters. One is a straight- A high school student, currently distance learning. One is returning from college in Florida and will finish her semester online. Lyola is blessed to co-parent with her ex-husband who helps in supporting their family and is present on a daily basis.
Her injuries are catastrophic. Shattered left ankle and heel, shattered right ankle, foot, ends of both leg bones and kneecap. Right now she is in surgery #5 and is facing multiple additional surgeries, an indefinite hospital stay followed by months of inpatient rehabilitation.
Lyola also had a part-time job but will unlikely be able to receive unemployment compensation. Her family lives over an hour away from the hospital, making gas and parking fees costly. She will eventually need custom personal and day-to-day living mechanics and equipment and potential daily nursing care.
What she needs most is your prayers and support while she faces this very long road to recovery. Any contribution-gas cards, gift cards, meals for her daughters is appreciated beyond words!! If you’d like to drop her a line of support, please reach out to her on Facebook. She needs our support more than ever!! Thank you!
Love and prayers,
Stacy Smith-Brown
