Hello everyone,
Lyn needs our help.
If you’ve ever wandered through the flea markets of Los Angeles, chances are you’ve come across Lyn Etcetera — a one-of-a-kind artist, antique vendor, and beloved gay elder in our community. His booth is always a treasure trove of beauty, history, and warmth — much like Lyn himself.
Recently, Lyn underwent prostate removal surgery as part of his fight against cancer. During this already difficult procedure, a serious complication occurred requiring an emergency second surgery. These back-to-back major operations left him completely immobile and unable to work.
After over a month in the hospital, Lyn was released home. However, shortly after returning, he suffered a bleeding ulcer and had to be hospitalized again for another week. He’s now finally back at home recovering, but his journey is far from over.
As many of you know, Lyn’s work is deeply physical. He relies on his mobility to haul antiques, set up shop, and engage with customers face-to-face. With no way to earn income right now, Lyn is facing the very real possibility of not being able to cover basic living expenses — rent, bills, and daily needs — during this critical recovery period.
We’re asking our community to rally around Lyn in the same way he’s always shown up with kindness, generosity, and wisdom for others. Every donation, no matter the size, will help give Lyn the space to heal without the added stress of financial insecurity.
Let’s help Lyn stay grounded, supported, and cared for — the way he’s helped so many of us feel through his art, stories, and spirit.
Lyn is deeply grateful for the support and love he’s already received. Thank you for being part of his recovery.
With gratitude,
Lyn Etcetera and Gerald
