Aloha! I'm Sarah, and two months ago I found out about my aunt Lynn Wilson's breast cancer diagnosis. Lynn has been a loving aunt, role model, and friend to me my whole life, and I want to support her now. So I've started this site to raise money for some of the medical expenses she'll have in the coming months.
Lynn is an artist, writer, lover of life, and awesome human being. She has always contributed generously to community, no matter where she is and no matter what the issue - big heart, big commitments, big spirit. She's been self-employed for most of her professional life, and so has had to pay a lot for small business medical insurance (more than $125,000 out-of-pocket over the past 10 years). The recession put a big financial strain on the community organizations she worked with, which in turn hit her business hard, and it never recovered.
On April 15, Lynn received a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer, and had a bilateral mastectomy two weeks later. On June 9 she started chemotherapy treatments that will continue through August. Lynn's in good shape, and we're expecting great healing. But even with health insurance, her bills are monumental - hospital, diagnostic, pathology, and physician costs for the surgery and chemo, complementary therapies, plus incredible medication costs. One injection Lynn has been prescribed to counter some of the side effects of each chemotherapy treatment costs $5000 per injection. The personal savings she's used to cover expenses so far have just about run out.
That's why I'm letting you know about Lynn and asking for your donation. Any amount, large or small, will help right now, and will mean so much to Lynn (and to me).
Thanks so much for reading Lynn's story, and for any contribution you can make to Lynn's Healing Fund!
