Lynn's Heartfelt Appeal for Recovery

My mother has always been a beacon of kindness and strength—a woman who would stop a semi-truck just to let an ant cross the road. She spent her life selflessly caring for others, raising two children single-handedly through her chainsaw art, and ensuring that anyone in need—human or animal—always had a warm home. Now, she needs help.
On February 26th, after months of progressive illness, my mother was rushed to the ER and diagnosed with severe sepsis caused by a sinus infection. By the time she was admitted, her organs were failing, leaving her malnourished, dehydrated, and cognitively impaired. She had also developed severe pneumonia. Instead of celebrating her birthday March 8th at home, she spent it battling for her life in the hospital. During treatment, she suffered a mild heart attack and septic shock. Septic shock is a life-threatening condition with a mortality rate of 35%- 50% even with intensive care. Septic shock is not just a medical emergency; survivors often face devastating long-term effects, including physical disability, cognitive impairment, and extreme fatigue. Though my mother miraculously survived these harrowing events, she tragically lost her ability to walk.
This has been devastating for someone who has always been so independent and giving. Just weeks before falling ill, she was excitedly preparing for a fresh start in Western Washington.
The road ahead is daunting. Survivors of septic shock often endure what is known as Post-Sepsis Syndrome (PSS), which can cause persistent pain, memory issues, and emotional struggles such as depression or anxiety. Additionally, 60% of older adults hospitalized for severe sepsis experience diminished cognitive and physical functioning. For my mother, this means relearning how to walk and regaining her independence—a monumental challenge requiring extensive rehabilitation.
We are raising funds to cover the costs of rehabilitation therapy, mobility aids, and other essential support services that will help my mother reclaim her life. Your generosity will make an immeasurable difference in helping her recover from this catastrophic illness.
Every donation—big or small—brings us closer to helping my mother walk again. If you can't donate, please share this with your friends and family. Together, we can give back to a woman who has given so much to others throughout her life.
Thank you for all of your kindness and support.
