Lynne(Susie)O'Brien's fight against NUT Carcinoma
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I have created this gofundme page to ask you to please consider making a donation to support someone that I love so very much, one of my best friend's Lynne (Susie) O'Brien and her family as she battles NUT Carcinoma. She and her husband Steve of Chelmsford Massachusetts grew up in Lowell and are graduates of Lowell High as well as Fitchburg State University. They have 2 beautiful daughters Rylee (12) and Meagan (9). The girls are their entire world, and they spend all of their time being their biggest fans as they watch them on the basketball court and softball field doing what they love.
Lynne is also a long time teacher of Lowell Public Schools where she teaches preschool students with Autism in her CSA classroom. Anyone who knows Lynne personally knows she is a strong, determined, caring, generous, selfless, amazing person. She is an incredible friend and would do anything for those she cares about despite what she has going on in her own life, never expecting anything in return.
In May 2023 Lynne attended a series of doctors appointments that lead to three surgeries. These appointments and surgeries resulted in the diagnosis of a very rare and aggressive form of cancer, NUT Carcinoma. Boston quickly became a second home. She and Steve traveled back and forth to endless appointments including; MRI's, lab tests, CT scans, PET scans, etc. Her life and that of her family was flipped upside down. After doing some research they discovered a team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute that specializes in this specific form of cancer. She met with them and quickly decided to move her care to this world renowned hospital. She has begun receiving treatments at Dana Farber five days a week. Her treatment plan currently consists of a combination of High dose Chemotherapy, Hydration therapy, and intense Radiation. Her doctors believe that she is young and strong enough to handle this aggressive treatment, however, these treatments take a huge toll on a person's body both physically and mentally.
Due to the intensity of her treatment plan, and her weakened immune system Lynne is unable to work at this time. It has taken a small army to prevent her from doing so, as all she wants is to be back in the classroom with her students. As you can imagine this hiccup life has thrown her way has impacted not only her, but her husband and daughters as well. Steve has been holding it down at home, taking the girls to their sporting events, and getting Lynne to all her appointments, all while continuing to work.
Lynne has a very long road ahead and a tough battle to fight. We want their family to be able to focus on being together, as well as, supporting her through this healing process so they have many more years of memory making ahead! We are asking for your support in order to alleviate some of the financial stress that is accumulating due to medical bills from surgeries, tests and treatments, not to mention the expenses from traveling daily to Boston (gas, parking, food).
I beg you to please consider making a donation to help this amazing family. Any little bit helps and we will be so grateful! Thank you everyone!
